Mixing

Every project and every artist is unique, and therefore requires a unique approach to achieve the best results. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to mixing and mastering, it’s important to tailor the process to the specific needs of the project and the artist. This personalized approach to mixing allows the artist to have more control over their music, and ultimately results in a mix that best represents their vision.

By allowing the artist to be the boss of their project, they can have more input and control over the final product. This collaborative approach can result in a more cohesive and polished final mix that meets or exceeds the artist’s expectations. This level of collaboration also builds trust between the artist and the mixing engineer, which can lead to a long-term working relationship and more successful projects in the future.

Mastering

Mastering is the final stage of the music production process, and it can have a significant impact on the overall sound and quality of your music. Mastering is the process of refining and polishing the final mix to create a cohesive and consistent sound that’s suitable for release. By applying a series of subtle yet crucial adjustments to the final mix, I can enhance your music and make it sound more professional, dynamic, and engaging.

With careful attention to detail, I will ensure that the songs have consistent levels, EQ, and overall tone, so they flow seamlessly from one track to the next.

It is a critical step in the music production process that can enhance your music and make it sound more suitable for release.

How to make your music sound great

A great mix begins at the recording stage. This means ensuring that sufficient attention has been paid to the quality of the instrument, the standard of the performance, the combination of tones, and the overall detail of the recording, factors that are integral to any recording session I do. Remember, a lot of work can make a bad recording sound okay. Minimal work can make a great recording sound amazing! When you’ve reached a stage where you don’t know which way is up and which way is down, what you need is an objective pair of ears. It is possible to significantly improve most out-of-control mixes by employing any number of techniques, whether it’s just a light dusting down, or a complete rebuild, I can help you get back on track with your mix and alleviate the stress you’ve been suffering during those 4am hair-pulling sessions. And best of all, we can work any number of ways, be it remotely over the internet, here at the studio, or even at your place on your own setup. Similarly, allowing an objective pair of ears to scrutinise your mixes through the process of mastering can pay dividends. Through careful attention to detail, safely ensuring that the material is not crushed or mangled, but instead enhanced by respecting the original sound and production ethos, it’s possible to go further than you might imagine to push it up a level and help it sound its very best.
